About Mary Munson, MA, MS.
Author Bio (Short): Mary Munson is a special education preschool teacher spanning two decades. She teaches at an integrated magnet school serving children from two to five years of age. Mary has always developed creative curricula to teach math and science to young children and now brings that expertise to children’s picture books. Being mindful of children’s social-emotional development, Mary combines themes of love and kindness with basic early childhood skills. Mary also serves as the Nutritional Science Liaison at her school, teaching young children about the importance of healthy foods and gardening. When she is not writing or teaching, she enjoys being in the mountains with her family, and taking long walks with her wolfhound, Zoshia.
Author Bio (Full): Mary Munson lives in a rural area of Connecticut, Having been raised in Connecticut Mary finds it’s true beauty in her farmhouse, nestled between cow pastures and goat farms, Mary has always enjoyed the power of words and expressing her thoughts and feelings through words and imagery. Having found her passion in teaching young children, Mary has a successful career teaching special needs preschool students. Mary is an inquiry based teacher, often finding herself knee-deep in the mud-kitchen, exploring nature and science with children.
Mary is an active member of NESCBWI and the 12×12 Picture Book Challenge. She has won awards for her creative writing and has been published in local newspapers and magazines. Her debut picture book, LOVE WILL TURN YOU AROUND, (Gnome Road Publishing, 2023), is an excellent example of how Mary combines creative writing with her love of teaching. When she is not teaching or writing, she can be found in nature, reading, doing yoga, or playing and snuggling with her wolfhound, Zoshia.
